Dino Miranda [world / Mozambique] PDF Print E-mail

Guitar. Voice. Composer.

Performance format: with his band. Guitar, percussion, drums, bass, keys, horns

Dino Miranda is from Mozambique. Chico Antonio, the king of Maputo under whom Dino was trained, said to Dino, `go to Cape Town. You can make it there. Setup a studio. Then come back to Maputo after achieving success and setup a studio here'.

Dino has done exactly that. He has a studio at home in Lansdowne, a suburb of Cape Town. He has released an album, which, even before it was released, had a hit on the radio in Mozambique.

Dino is a hot guitar player with great songs, fusing Eastern and African sounds in the way that the East coast of Africa saw African and eastern elements coming together in society through trade and time.

He graduated at the university of Cape Town, faculty of music (jazz studies). He has collaborated with artists from Mozambique, South Africa, Holland, England and Jamaica to name a few.

Has worked with artists such as Stewart Sukuma, Chico Antonio, Jeff Maluleke, Teba, Max Vidima, Azania,Chris Hinze, Peter Spencer, Starkey Banton, Prince Malachi, Dawit Menalik Tafari, 340ml, Freshly Ground and others.

The release of his first single, 'Fatal", takes the career a step further. `Check it out', the second single released in 2008, was licenced to a compilation called "Boutiques de Maputo''. The album "Moya wa Kaya" is now available.
